Coast to Coast Hellen Sturgeon
Upon seeing more of Hellen's photographs I saw places that I felt I had seen or been to, all subtle, spontaneous
snapshots of the everyday. Images that have caught her eye that invoke a memory of a place and time in one's own journey. To view this exhibit and feel the experience one would have to view as if a passage of
time has elapsed. Not to be seen in completion but rather sections at a time. We the viewer being in the right frame of mind to celebrate a discovery of our own experience revealing an inner truth in something
that we take for granted. Thus this being Hellen's criteria and philosophy in her work. Enjoy her work over the course of days or even weeks. Pull over, wonder and see.... --- Girolamo

Undoing Hellen Sturgeon
A collection of images that derive from my fascination with the texture, colour and form of stone and metal objects,
particularly as they age and decay or, are otherwise affected by circumstances.
This series is based on an interest in the interpretation of colour using a starting point of the meaning of a specific colour and creating something
more than itself. Continuing my concept that the symbols become the pulse, echo something that would trigger a different meaning through colour and shape. Thus, revealing the ancient roots in all of us and all its
Abstractions in Black Hellen Sturgeon
This series of work is a continuing exploration of light and motion. The images are exaggerated in size creating a visual
excitement full of colour, providing the ability to go deep into the piece and see.
This series is based on an interest in the lost civilization of the Maya. Feeling an urgency and challenge to take their numerical symbols as a
starting point and create something more than numbers. The symbols become the pulse, echo something that would trigger a different symbolism and meaning through colour and shape. Thus, revealing the ancient
roots in all of us and all its mysteries.
Symphonic Maneuvers in the Dark Hellen Sturgeon
These images are presented as they were shot, through the eye of the camera. They are without further
creative impression. They required travel and an understanding of light and motion.
